Today I got up at 6am to go to the airport. The plane left on time and we arrived at around 10am in Indianapolis. After about an hour waiting at the airport I was picked up by a CMF staff member named Donna. On the way back we had a nice conversation about her family and mine and other mission-related activities. Donna is a very interesting woman, who finds it boring in the United States now. This is due to serving in Africa for over 10 years and in Ukraine for over 8 years as a missionary. She was very nice and made me feel very welcome to the city of Indianapolis.
After arriving to the Benedict Inn, a monastery where we’re staying at, I checked in and got to my room. This place is very well kept, though old, and so far I have no complaints. Following my arrival, more and more interns began coming in until finally we had everyone we were expecting (around 35 in total). We all introduced ourselves and then played an icebreaker game. This was a crazy icebreaker in which we were required to do things like leap frog over people five times, stuff 8 marshmallows in our mouths at one time, and I personally chugged one jar of baby food (and almost threw up while doing it). Other than that we just socialized for the remainder of our time today and then eventually drifted off to bed. I’ve met some really incredible people so far and I’m looking forward to getting to know each person here.
